ReactJS / Python - Full Stack Developer

Job description

Railnova is hiring a full stack developer to accompany the growth of our Railfleet software platform which is at the heart of digitization of Railway companies in Europe

We need you to help us bring great front end and backend ideas to life. As we have dozens of large clients, we often know our key users by name and as a developer, you can make a huge difference in their daily workflows. We work based on a deep understanding of customer needs and are eager learners.

Railfleet is an online web platform for Railway actors to manage their day to day operations and train maintenance. We bring to our customers a modern user interface that user love with intuitive workflows to help them change their dinosaur habits and get things done.

The Railfleet team is currently composed of a product manager, a developer and UX designer. We now want to reinforce the Railfleet team and product with experienced full stack developer, someone with a great track record of shipping new features and bringing a product to life.

Real examples of "full-stack" work the Railfleet team has done lately

(that might help you to get a better idea of what this full-stack position job entails)

  • Design a user-friendly NLP / ML backed recommendation engine to identify most impacting defects on trains while letting the user make the final decision
  • Develop a maintenance planning visualization page in an interactive Gantt shape with decision data and filters.
  • Interface Railfleet with our HTTP API with multiple SAP and IBM Maximo software from third-party companies
  • Design clever database models and API to express multi-tenant sharing of data and complex access permissions, to preserve privacy, security and intellectual property of each party in the data sharing process
  • Design workflow across companies to help digitize multi-company workflows
  • Talk directly to the customers to understand the desirability and the user fit of what is being built

    About you

Independent and customer-oriented developers strive at Railnova. We are conscientious workers and eager learners. Most of all, we are colleagues, and we are here to do our best work together.

As an experienced full-stack developer, you should be intimately familiar with the stables of full-stack web development: HTTP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, SQL. Our backend is based on Django (Python) and our frontend is in React (any other experience with other frameworks is good to take). It’s a bonus if you’re broadly familiar with other languages as well - as an example we also have a couple of pieces of our backend written in Go.

We don't ask you to be an all-knowing "Wonder Woman" or "Superman" senior programmer, but if you are someone providing solid work and able to provide guidance to less experienced developers, we want you. In brief:

    • you are a strong front-end developer, passionate about making an awesome product for end-users
    • you are an experienced Javascript / ReactJS developer, (we accept experience with other frameworks as people are given the time to learn new skills at Railnova)
    • as bonus skill, you are an experienced Python developer
    • you can use a UX design and think critically about it from your programmer perspective
    • you have a degree in computer science or engineering or any equivalent proved track record,
    • you are a good (written) communicator, you like working in a team, and speak to customers

    What we offer

We want you to continue your personal development journey at Railnova. You’ll be given space and time to focus on your work and be exposed to a technical and caring team.

On top of that, you'll get:

    • a full-time job close to Brussels South Train Station,
    • 32 days of paid holidays
    • 3 days and travel cost paid for one conference per year of your choice
    • time for extra courses and self-learning,
    • a young, multidisciplinary and dynamic team in a medium-sized scale-up (~30 employees), with a rock-solid, subscription-based business model in IoT, Data Analytics and B2B workflow management.
    • a large collection of perks including a smartphone, laptop of your choice, extra healthcare insurance, transport card and (depending on need), a company car.
    • an open culture to nurture creativity, while keeping our clients and the rest of the team in mind at all times.
    • a balanced work environment (work from home, flexible working hours, no meetings, no emails)
    • lunch delivered to the office every day (when you are there),

    How to apply

Press the "Apply" button and carefully fill in the 3 write-up questions to demonstrate that you are a good English written communicator and experienced full-stack programmer. We will review your written submission within 2 weeks and let you know if you are invited to an interview. The recruiting process also includes an on-site exercise down the line.
