Senior Product Manager

  • Hybrid
    • Brussels, Brussels, Belgium

Be the voice of the customer and shape what Railnova builds, sells and says to help make rail the most competitive transport mode.

Job description

About Railnova

Railnova helps railway operators, leasing companies and rolling stock manufacturers unlock the full performance of their fleets. Our Railster edge devices stream live data off trains and their components. Railgenius turns that data into real-time diagnostics and predictive insight. Railfleet digitalises the maintenance workflows that follow. Together they move a fleet from reactive repairs to planned, data-driven maintenance.

Operators and manufacturers across Europe rely on Railnova to keep trains available, safe and on time. We are headquartered in Brussels, work remote-friendly across Europe, and build our technology in-house.

The role

This is the role that makes sure the product we build and the product the market needs are the same thing.

As Senior Product Manager, you sit between our commercial teams and our engineers. You bring the market in: real customer use cases, real competitive pressure, real willingness to pay. And you take the product out: sharp positioning, credible business cases, and a sales and partner organisation that knows exactly how to sell what we have built.

You will not be writing brochures to order. You will decide what the market needs to hear, prove it with evidence, and hold the organisation to it. You report to the CEO and work in close partnership with R&D and Sales. To start with, you cover our IoT hardware and the services that come with it, and you lead one direct report.

What you will do

Market and customer insight

  • Act as the voice of the customer inside Railnova: the person who can answer, with evidence, what our customers are actually trying to achieve.

  • Run structured customer interviews, surveys and site visits to extract use cases, jobs to be done and requirements.

  • Maintain a live view of the competitive landscape and of the regulatory and market forces shaping rail digitalisation.

  • Run win/loss analysis on closed deals and feed the conclusions back into positioning, pricing and roadmap.

  • Gather and analyse post-sales customer feedback so that it drives continuous product improvement rather than sitting in a ticket queue.

Product direction

  • Translate insight into prioritised, well-argued product requirements, weighing customer value, commercial impact and technical feasibility.

  • Partner with our Product Engineering Managers on the roadmap. You build and defend the market case, they own delivery, and together you keep the roadmap aligned with company strategy.

  • Contribute to pricing and packaging decisions: how we bundle, meter and price our products across segments.

Positioning and go-to-market

  • Own positioning and messaging across the Railster family: what each product is for, who it is for, and why it beats the alternative.

  • Co-own go-to-market plans for product releases: target segments, value proposition, launch assets and internal readiness.

  • Build the quantified business case: the ROI and total-cost-of-ownership arguments that let a maintenance director defend a Railnova investment internally.

  • (Co-)Create the commercial content that carries it: brochures, white papers, case studies, presentations and website material.

Sales and partner enablement

  • Develop sales readiness (training, battlecards, demo narratives and objection handling) so the team understands the business value of the product, not just its features.

  • Enable our strategic partners and OEM channels to position and sell Railnova products credibly.

  • Take part in customer discovery calls and in RFI, RFP and tender responses, crafting answers that highlight and differentiate what we do.

  • Represent Railnova at industry events, webinars and trade shows.

Job requirements

Essentials

  • Five or more years in product marketing, technical pre-sales or technical sales for a B2B technical product: industrial IoT, connected assets, SaaS for asset-heavy industries, or rail and transport technology.

  • Strong technical acumen: able to hold a real conversation with engineers, and to explain complex product behaviour to a maintenance director or a CFO without losing either of them.

  • A technical foundation: a degree in engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a technical product environment.

  • Comfort with data: able to read a diagnostics output, ask sharp questions about false positives and confidence levels, and turn numbers into a defensible business case.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication, and the credibility to engage senior stakeholders internally and at customers.

  • A structured, evidence-based approach to prioritisation, with a customer-first, problem-solving mindset.

  • Effective cross-functional working in a fast-moving, small-company environment, and comfort with a written, asynchronous culture.

  • Professional English. French and/or German is a strong advantage given our customer base.

  • Willingness to travel within Europe for customer visits, partner workshops and industry events.

Nice to have

  • Bid or tender management for large public and semi-public rail contracts.

  • Rail domain knowledge: rolling stock systems, field buses, train control and command systems, safety systems and software security.

  • Experience marketing AI or machine-learning products, including setting honest expectations about predictive accuracy.

  • Experience enabling partner, OEM or channel sales teams.
